During a segment on the ongoing campaigns by former Gov Nikki Haley (R-SC) and current Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL), CNN anchors Kate Boldaun and John Berman burst out laughing at the music blaring at a DeSantis campaign event in New Hampshire that made it hard to hear CNN correspondent Steve Contorno.
With both Haley and DeSantis trailing Donald Trump badly in the polls, the two have been scrambling to rope in more voters in the early stages of Iowa and New Hampshire needing a strong showing or face the prospect of giving up their run.
CNN's Bolduan prompted Contorno, reporting from Concord, New Hampshire to bring the CNN audience up to date on DeSantis, but the very loud strains of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" threatened to drown him out.
That led the CNN co-host Berman to joke, "I wonder if they are going to, play 'Free Bird'?" to which Bolduan laughed and replied, "I demand it!"
"I do want you to know that New Hampshire is not Alabama," he continued, which prompted Bolduan to chime in with a sarcastic, "What?"
"And Ron DeSantis is not from Alabama," Berman continued with his co-host repeating, "What?"
"But it is an interesting choice of music," the smirking Berman added.
