Severe storm to hit from Florida to Maine this weekend: forecast

A severe storm could slam a slew of major cities along the east coast with gusting winds and heavy rain this weekend, forecasts show.

That rain would be snow if it wasn’t so unseasonably warm, the Washington Post notes. It means flooding will be a risk along the Gulf Coast, which could see up to 4 inches of rain.

Tornado threats arrive in Florida late Saturday night, then creep north to Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia Sunday, the Washington Post forecast shows.

The rain should begin pounding the Mid-Atlantic region Sunday and arrive in the Northeast Sunday night, according to the forecast.

Flooding could occur in North Carolina, Connecticut and Rhode Island and wind gusts of up to 60-mph are predicted along the Atlantic coastline from North Caroline through Maine, predictions show.

Snow, though missing on the east coast, is predicted to be dumped further west, according to the Weather Channel.

Predictions show between five and 12 inches of snow are possible in the Southern Rockies, Colorado’s High Plains and northern New Mexico late Thursday.
