The UKs top 10 towns for winter affairs revealed – is your local on the list of places to spice things up?
AFTER two years in the summer and winter top three, Salford has been crowned the top city in the UK for having an affair – with Mancunian neighbours closely following in second place.
However, the former 2022 chart-topper city of Exeter has shockingly fallen to seventh place, trailing behind Colchester in Essex.
Research by the world’s leading married dating site, Ashley Madison, shows that, as the days grow shorter, Brits are looking for new ways to spice things up in the bedroom.
It may be the salt in the air or the drop in visitors encouraging Brightonians to cuddle up and make the biggest jump ahead to fifth place this winter.
However, seaside rivals in Bournemouth still seem to have a little bit more fun behind closed doors, coming up fourth. While the Geordie city of Newcastle has raced to take the third spot.
New additions to the list include Glasgow and Aberdeen as Scots seek refuge from the cold temperatures.
Surprisingly, Londoners appear to have put affairs on ice for now, with capital of the UK crashing out of the Top 20!
Lucy Beresford, Relationship Expert and Psychotherapist, said: “This study shows that as the nights draw in and even snow is forecast, affairs are not concentrated just in one pocket of the UK.
“Nor is infidelity happening in the country’s largest cities, since London is no longer in the Top 20.
“Instead, from the top of the country in Aberdeen right down to the South Coast in Brighton, what is traditionally known as the ‘cuffing season’ (where people look to find special cuddle partners in the run up to the festive season), is clearly now happening up and down the country.
“And it is cities on water high up the rankings, like Newcastle and Bournemouth, which suggests that biting winds do nothing to deter people wanting to get their emotional needs met.”
Other exciting new entries include Bolton in 20th position and even Basingstoke in 16th. Turns out the M3 motorway isn’t the only thing getting those in the town hot under the collar!
Christoph Kraemer, Managing Director Europe for Ashley Madison, remarked: “It is highly unusual that a city earns top spots both in our summer and winter ranking of most unfaithful cities.
“We are open to collaborating with Salford city officials to further promote its standing as the UK’s top infidelity destination.”
