And her supersized Christmas decorations regularly cause a frenzy on social media.
Alex, who now lives in London, loves creating show-stopping DIY garlands which she embellishes with bows, baubles and fun candy cane decorations.
The huge decorations greet visitors at both her front and back door, with more dotted around at internal doorways, mirrors and fireplaces.
She also has colourful Santa stop heres signs, gonks and Christmas trees to continue the festive feeling throughout her home.
Alex said creating a grotto in her home gives her a “warm, fuzzy feeling” – and she doesn’t care if people judge her for it.
She said: “Someone asked me this week why I do all of this decorating ‘especially when I don’t have kids’.
“The truth is, I think Christmas is genuinely the most magical time of the year.
“I know it can be a really difficult time for many but decorating and being able to bring joy to other people gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.”
She added: “Growing up I was so lucky to have a mum and dad who made Christmas so magical.
“It’s my happiest memories from childhood and that’s why as long as I’m able, I’ll continue to create a grotto and share with others.
“We’re believers in this house.”
And plenty of Christmas fans are full of praise for Alex’s DIY decorations.
One gushed: “Wow this is stunning, so clever.”
A second wrote: “S*** a brick this is amazing!!! I’m definitely doing this!!”
Meanwhile, a third added: “You’re a wizard I’m sure of it, it looks beautiful.”
Alex first became interested in DIY after she purchased her first home in September 2019.
The engineer, who was a finalist on Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year, previously said: “I am on a mission to inspire people to step out of their comfort zone, try new projects and create a beautiful home for themselves in the process.”
Elsewhere, Christmas fans have raced to B&M for designer bauble and candle dupes – with prices starting from just £3.
