Donald Trump is selling off pieces of the suit he wore in his Georgia mugshot photo, and panelists on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" were left speechless by his fundraising pitch.
The former president released a video earlier this week hawking scraps of the cut-up suit, which he admittedly compared to his widely mocked digital trading cards last year, and the panelists laughed at Trump's closing line of "have a nice life."
"We're getting into a new place when you are buying garments from someone, pieces of the garments to collect, and I don't know, play with at home or whatever," said co-host Willie Geist. "We're knocking on the door of here's a lock of my hair to keep in your pocket."
"Have a good life?" added co-host Mika Brzezinski.
"There is the other question we posed many times as Donald Trump hustles his own voters," Geist continued. "He is, or claims to be, a billionaire. He claims to be very wealthy, and yet he continues to hold up his own voters, working-class voters, for money to pay his legal bills."
Contributor Jen Palmieri, a former White House communications director for Barack Obama, compared the gambit to the way the Berlin Wall was sold off in chunks.
"I just can't move on from the suit," Palmieri said. "It's the Berlin Wall, you all, like how they broke up pieces of the -- I'm just not often just astounded by him, but that whole, the whole video was just astounding. Also to tell us all to have a nice life after we buy his [non-fungible tokens] and a scrap of the suit, I mean, wow. yeah. I'm speechless."
