Tottenham Hotspur play Nottingham Forest tomorrow night in the Premier League, but the North Londoners have a handful of players who will need to be extra careful not to pick up a booking that would lead to a suspension.
After a high-flying start to the current campaign, Ange Postecoglou had seen his Spurs side go top of the Premier League table after ten games, during which time the Lilywhites did not lose a game.
Then, disaster struck, as Spurs crashed to a 4-1 defeat against Chelsea at the start of November. During that game, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie picked up red cards leading to suspensions, while James Maddison and Micky van de Ven pulled up with serious injuries.
Since then, Spurs had gone five games without a win due to a heavily depleted squad. The win against Newcastle at the weekend puts the Lilywhites back on track, but they can ill-afford another suspension issue.
So, here are the players who have to be extra careful against Nottingham Forest tomorrow night, so as to avoid a one-game suspension through picking up five yellow cards across the season.
Funnily enough, both Romero and Udogie are the closest to that unwanted milestone. The defenders each have four yellow cards currently, and one more will see them miss the game against Everton on December 23.
Meanwhile, Pape Sarr, Dejan Kulusevski, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Pedro Porro are all on three yellow cards, meaning they are two bookings away from a suspension. If they pick up a yellow in the game against Forest, they will be severely at risk in the following game.

Honestly, I don’t have much faith in Romero and Udogie keeping themselves out of the referee’s book tomorrow night. The nature of their game is to get stuck in and give their all, and unfortunately that just puts them in the line of fire for potential bookings. Hopefully, they can toe the line just enough to avoid a yellow, though.
