Report: Tottenham defender could be loaned out to Spain in January 

Estadio Deportivo have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could loan out Sergio Reguilon to a La Liga club during the January transfer window.

Reguilon spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid but his time in the Spanish capital did not go according to plan as he spent the bulk of the season on the treatment table and struggled to get into Diego Simeone’s starting XI even when he was fit. 

The 26-year-old has had a much better time of it at Man Utd this season, having made 10 appearances for the club so far, owing to their injury problems at left-back.

However, Erik Ten Hag confirmed a few days ago that Tottenham could call off the loan move in January and that the Red Devils would have to negotiate with the Lilywhites regarding extending the player’s stay at Old Trafford (Fabrizio Romano).

Sergio Reguilon could be Spain-bound in January

Estadio Deportivo have now asserted that a move back to Spain could be on the cards for Reguilon in next month’s transfer window.

The report says that the Tottenham man would be ‘open to returning’ to his native country and ‘would welcome’ the idea of playing in La Liga if the right offer comes along.

It is alleged that the left-back will not be short of suitors in Spain, especially given how he excelled at Sevilla prior to his switch to Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

The only reason for Tottenham to recall Reguilon is if they feel Man Utd could be a direct rival for as top-four spot. If the left-back wants to stay at Old Trafford, I would expect Spurs to agree to extend the loan deal until the end of the season.
