House launches email address to report college antisemitism amid investigation

The House Education and the Workforce Committee announced Wednesday it was launching an email address that could be used to report antisemitism on college campuses.  

The announcement says college students, faculty and other community members can email report.antisemitism@mail.house.gov to file reports of antisemitism on campus. 

“In the wake of the December 5 hearing with the presidents of Harvard, UPenn, and MIT, Committee Members have received dozens of messages from across the country from those interested in sharing cases of antisemitism at their respective institutions,” said Committee Chair Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) said in a statement.

“Having a centralized reporting system allows the Committee to more effectively review and act on credible cases of antisemitism. I believe this resource will play an important role in helping the Committee conduct its investigation and bring real accountability to institutions that are failing their students and faculty,” she added.  

The committee held multiple hearings on the subject of antisemitism on college campuses and announced an investigation into Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. 

The House is also set to vote on a resolution Wednesday condemning the presidents of the three universities at the time of the hearing last week for their testimonies to Congress.  

During the hearing, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) asked each university president if the call to genocide against Jewish people violates bullying or harassment policies on their campuses.  

Each president said that it depends on the context of how the call is made, leading to enormous backlash and the ouster of Penn President Liz Magill.
