As Dennis Parker has his first double-double in Raleigh
UT-Martin probably isn’t the greatest team NC State could have scheduled for mid-December, and State did roll 81-67. But it’s also a chance to iron out some bugs and get extended minutes for some players that don’t always get them. And that’s pretty much what Kevin Keatts did.
The DJs - Horne and Burns - were not a surprise really. Horne scored 22 points including six threes. Falstaff Burns had 10 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and four assists.
The surprise?
Dennis Parker got a double-double. Actually, he’s Dennis junior so NC State has three DJs which should be marketable.
He’s an intriguing prospect but he hasn’t gotten a ton of time yet and this is his first double-double though he was close against Vanderbilt with 18 points and nine rebounds.
The 6-6 freshman is worth keeping up with because his parents are fully committed to his character and education. We might have missed one but we think this is his first start. It won’t be his last.
Wednesday is another slow day in the ACC with only Louisville in action. The Cardinals will entertain 3-7 Arkansas State. That would be a terrible game to blow.
