Destiny Udogie has expressed his delight at signing a new long-term contract at Tottenham Hotspur, admitting that he has felt at home at the club since day one.
Spurs signed Udogie in a £15m deal from Udinese 18 months ago, with the youngster being loaned back to the Serie A club last season.
When he arrived at Hotspur Way in the summer, there were some doubts over whether he would fit into the inverted full-back role in Ange Postecoglou’s system, having been signed to play as a wing-back under Antonio Conte.
The 21-year-old has answered those doubts emphatically so far this season, having been one of the best full-backs across the Premier League.
Tottenham rewarded him with a contract extension, with the club confirming on Tuesday that the Italy international had penned a new deal running until 2030.
Udogie has now remarked that he is thoroughly enjoying his football in North London and is relishing the opportunity to showcase his skills in the Premier League.
The left-back told Tottenham’s official website on his new deal: “I’m really happy… happy because to be here at this club is a big joy for me, and happy for this opportunity.
“From the first day I came here, I felt at home, with the players, the coaching staff, the whole club, I feel so welcome. It’s the way everyone at the club respects you, the players, everyone.
“The Premier League is very tough, it’s a physical league, intense… the staff are doing big work every day, and it’s showing on the pitch. It’s the most difficult league, you have to be ready mentally, physically, and I’m finding a good experience. Every day I’m learning something new, every day working with great players.”

It is quite a shrewd move by Tottenham to tie Udogie down to a long-term contract as there is no doubt that the left-back would be attracting envious glances from Europe’s biggest clubs as he is well on his way to becoming one of the best in the world in his position.
