Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban administration, responded to yesterday’s explosion in Pakistan, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries. He refuted the claims made by Pakistani officials that the origin of the terrorist attacks was in Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan summoned the chargé d’affaires of the Taliban embassy in Islamabad, demanding the extradition of the perpetrators of a recent event.
On Tuesday, the Pakistani army confirmed that at least 23 of its police officers were killed in a suicide attack on a police station in Dera Ismail Khan.
Mujahid expressed regret about the incident in an interview with the group’s controlled national television. He stated that if Pakistan has investigated this attack and provided details to the group, the Taliban will conduct their own investigation.
He also mentioned that Pakistani security forces have a strong presence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that Pakistan is capable of preventing such attacks on its own soil.
The Taliban spokesperson added that attributing every issue to another country is not a solution.
Following this attack, a former Defense Minister of Pakistan stated that the origin of terrorism is solely in Afghanistan.
Khawaja Muhammad Asif further added that a “neighboring brother” should not allow their country to be used against Pakistan.
Some media outlets claim, citing a message on social networks, that yesterday’s attack in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was carried out by a person named Qari Shakir, a member of the Afghan Taliban forces.
In the message sent by Mr Shakir to his family, it is stated: “When you learn about my killing, perform two units of thanksgiving prayer and be grateful that I have been killed in this cause.”
The exact date of this message’s recording is unclear, and Khaama Press cannot independently verify its authenticity in connection to yesterday’s explosion.
