Man knocked down by mobility scooter in revenge for ‘buying the last pasty’

A furious pensioner had his mobility scooter seized by police after he drove into a shopper who bought the last pastry from a bakery.

Footage shows the man angrily waving his walking stick like a sword as he speeds down Mill Street, Devon towards his victim.

He then runs his mobility scooter into the man, causing him to fall behind a shop sign as others leap out of the way.

One woman attempts to wrestle the pensioner’s walking stick off of him in an intense stand off, but he refuses to let go.

The pasty buyer is seen being helped to his feet before limping away from the scene.

Oak Leigh, who filmed the bust-up, said the hungry pensioner ‘took out his anger’ on a few people.

‘They were arguing because he had the last pasty from the bakery and bumped into him,’ she said.

Devon and Cornwall Police were able to identify the man involved, and were pictured driving the mobility scooter away.

They said: ‘We attended an incident early today which led to us seizing a mobility scooter which one of our officers then had to ride back to the station!

‘We have identified the owner but all other parties had already left prior to our arrival.

‘We don’t currently have any victims that have come forward to us.’

But they denied they were launching mobility scooter patrols.

‘While we are an equal opportunity employer, no, we currently don’t have any plans to launch mobility scooter patrols,’ Bideford Police Station said.
