Report: Serie A club want to sign Spurs man in January but only have £8.5m budget
The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has claimed that Bologna are convinced Alejo Veliz would be open to joining them but they expect the negotiations with Tottenham to be quite complicated.
The speculation linking Veliz with a loan move to Bologna has continued to gather steam over the last few weeks.
Some updates over recent weeks have explained that the Serie A side failed with a move for the Argentine striker in the summer and that they believe that the 20-year-old would be open to a loan move in January in search of regular game time (1000 Cuori Rossoblu).
Bologna are interested in signing Alejo Veliz on loan
Corriere have now said that Bologna are prioritising signing a number nine in January and have dedicated €8m-€10m (£6.8m-£8.5m) to that cause, with Veliz being one of the names on their shortlist.
The report further states that the Italian club believe Veliz is ‘eager to play’ and that he ‘seeks continuity’, which is why they are ‘convinced’ that the striker will see a switch to Bologna as being beneficial to his career.
However, the outlet suggests that Tottenham may demand a loan fee of a few million for the centre-forward and it is also pointed out that Spurs would not add a purchase option to the loan deal unless they can make a significant profit on the €15m (£12.8m) they spent on the player in the summer.
The publications states that therefore, the ‘path that leads to the forward is not at all obvious’ for Bologna in January.

I do expect Tottenham and Veliz to entertain loan offers in January as the striker needs game time. However, there is zero chance that Spurs could consider adding an option to buy in any loan deal for the youngster.
