Alasdair Gold says Postecoglou wants Spurs forward to improve in one area
Alasdair Gold has revealed that Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff want to see Dejan Kulusevski get more goals and assists than he currently does.
While Kulusevski might be underrated by neutrals and pundits, most Spurs fans recognise the Swede’s value as he is not only one of Tottenham’s hardest workers but also makes himself a nuisance to play against.
The 24-year-old is also highly appreciated by his teammates, with The Athletic describing him last week as the ‘player’s player’ due to his tireless running on and off the ball.
The Swede has proven his versatility over recent weeks, doing a commendable job as a number ten in James Maddison’s absence and he admitted last week that he loves playing centrally (TEAMtalk).
Ahead of the clash against West Ham United, Postecoglou remarked that he prefers Kulusevski to play out-wide since the former Juventus man can be a much bigger goal threat cutting in from the flank (Football.London).
Postecoglou wants more goals from Kulusevski
Gold has explained that the coaching staff at Spurs have been pushing Kulusevski to get on the end of more chances and find the back of the net with regularity.
The journalist said on his YouTube channel about the winger’s equaliser against Manchester City: “I think it is because he doesn’t head the ball much, and that’s why we ended up with this weird head-shoulder hybrid finish.
“I think it is interesting that this is something they really want him to improve on, and he’s had a bit of an uptick in terms of goals and assists as well.”

There is no doubt that a player of Kulusevski’s ability should score more goals and provide more assists than he does.
The Swede is an excellent crosser and has a fine shot on him but often takes too many touches in the final third, rather than just getting the ball out of his feet and getting a strike away.
