Man United stars lodge major complaints with Ten Hag, Dutchman knocks back their demands - report
Manchester United players have asked manager Erik ten Hag for more days off and advanced notice of their training schedule, according to the Daily Mail.
However, the Dutchman has refused to grant their request, insisting the Red Devils stars should be prepared to put their bodies on the line as the Premier League is becoming more physically demanding.
Man United players have complained over their workload, with the limited number of days off and their inability to plan their time off major concerns for them.
Ten Hag gives them a weekly training schedule, but he is often forced to change it depending on the results, and frequent adjustments would have been made this term following ten defeats and a draw in 22 games.
Some players also want to be able to plan further ahead, which has largely been impossible given the Dutchman’s frequent alterations.
The Man United boss has granted occasional extra days off this term, but he believes it takes the highest standards of dedication and sacrifice to play for such a club.
Ten Hag and his staff use the popular messaging platform WhatsApp to send key information to the players, and it appears the WhatsApp group is always active as the manager can decide to change the training schedule anytime.
Members of the players’ leadership group, comprising senior players like Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Tom Heaton, are responsible for tabling requests and complaints to the Man United boss.
However, not all of them have complained and the vast majority of the squad are supportive of the manager, so it does not seem the players will be getting their requests granted anytime soon.
The Red Devils play six more games this month, and how they fare in these fixtures will have a huge say on their campaign.
Therefore, there will be very few days off between now and January as Ten Hag looks to get his side to start winning games consistently.
