A man facing extradition to the US has had an appeal to delay this rejected by the High Court.
Nicholas Rossi, 36, lodged the appeal with the High Court earlier this year and the case was heard today in Edinburgh.
Rossi first came to the attention of authorities when he fell ill with Covid in Glasgow in December 2021.
He was arrested after his tattoos and fingerprints matched National Crime Agency documents.
He is wanted in the US for alleged offences including rape.
The Scottish government authorised to send him back to the US on September 28 after a lengthy extradition case in the Scottish courts.
He represented himself today in court and argued the Scottish government was wrong to authorise the decision to send him back to the US.
Rossi also previously claimed he is an Irish orphan called Arthur Knight, and is a victim of mistaken identity, despite a sheriff ruling he is in fact Rossi.
But despite this he rejected lawyers referring to him by the name of Rossi in court.
Lady Dorian told Rossi his identity was established through earlier court proceedings and insisted this is the name she will use to address him during the appeal hearing.
She sat alongside Lord Malcolm and Lord Armstrong, who also rejected each of Rossi’s preliminary motions, stating it is not the High Court’s place to hear fresh evidence in the case and it is also not in a position to grant bail.
Rossi told the court he he had been previously ill-served by legal representatives and this led to him losing his earlier court case.
