NFL Best Bets, Week 14: A Scumbag's backing Jake Browning AND Desmond Ridder? Really?
After a (very) brief speed bump, our Scumbag locks — a combination of bets from our resident handicapper, the Rhode Island Scumbag and myself — got back on track with another profitable week. Those locks are now hitting at an extremely useful 65 percent rate (56 of 86) as the final month of the regular season looms. That either means we’re starting to dial into this whole NFL thing or that regression is about to come crashing upon us like a rogue wave at Scarborough Beach, scattering clandestine cans of Mike’s Hard Lemonade and portable speakers blasting Fat Joe all over the place.
I’m shooting for the former. Here are our picks for the week. All Scumbag analysis is in blockquotes. My plays follow.
Another winning week for the Rhode Island Scumbag… and oh boy it was a big one. I know I only went 2-1 in the column and had no profit to show for it, but I happened to hit the biggest parlay of my life in the NFL.
It was an eight-unit whopper that paid off a smooth 48. I ended the week up 74 units, which is usually a good number for a season, let alone a weekend. I want to give thanks and praise to the three-leg beauty of Los Angeles Chargers -5, Atlanta Falcons -2 and Detroit Lions vs. New Orleans Saints over 47. I violated the Degenerate’s Creed by laying points on the road in two of the legs and betting a game involving the Lions, but it worked out for me.
Enough about week 13 though. Winning doesn’t mean anything if you piss away all the profit.
