Pundit is convinced that Tottenham man will eventually join Man City
Former Sunderland midfielder Michael Bridges believes that Manchester City will turn to Ange Postecoglou when Pep Guardiola eventually decides to call time on his time at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola and Postecoglou evidently share a similar footballing philosophy and the Spaniard was quite complimentary about the Aussie coach ahead of the clash on Sunday.
He admitted that he enjoys watching Spurs play and remarked that Postecoglou makes ‘football a better place’ (Reuters).
Postecoglou returned the favour after the 3-3 draw, praising his counterpart for the kind of team he has built in Manchester (Football.London).
Will Man City move for Ange Postecoglou eventually?
Bridges pointed out that the City Group will be well aware of the Tottenham boss’ capabilities, given that he worked at one of their clubs, Yokohama Marinos.
The pundit suggested that they would be watching what the 58-year-old does with Spurs with extra interest, entertaining the idea of bringing him to the Manchester club in a couple of years.
Bridges told The Optus Sport Football Podcast: “Ange Postecoglou was part of the City Group with the Marinos, obviously went to Celtic, but the City Group have seen what he’s all about.
“I reckon that this Premier League season, they’re monitoring him, and that results will concrete the move. When Pep Guardiola decides time is enough at Manchester City, Postecoglou will be the Manchester City manager.
“There you go. Just remember that. Remember this one for a year or two years time. All right.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is too early to worry about Ange being potentially poached by a bigger club in the future. If Postecoglou is wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and Man City in two years, that is excellent news for Tottenham as it means that the Australian would have had a lot of success in North London.
