WITH Christmas right around the corner, many holiday enthusiasts are beginning to partake in classic activities like gingerbread house building.
An expert in the kitchen said her tip will take your cookie-based abode to the next level.
A TikToker named Judy, who goes by @judys_gingerbread, wants to help her Christmas-spirited viewers win their next gingerbread house competition.
To do so, in a video she revealed an easy way to make yours stand out: edible stained glass windows.
Gather a handful of Jolly Ranchers in all the colors – including blue, green, purple, and pink – and a hammer.
Keeping the candies in their wrappers, use a hammer to crush them before unwrapping the crumbs into a bowl.
Next, grab the facades of your gingerbread homes and, if they don’t have cut-outs for windows, cut them yourself.
Lay the walls on a baking sheet covered in aluminum foil and fill the cut-out windows with the Jolly Rancher bits.
Bake at 300 degrees for seven to nine minutes, then wait until the candy is totally cooled before lifting the walls off the sheet.
Once ready, the Jolly Ranchers will have all melted and bled into each other so that the colors mimic the pattern on stained glass windows.
Judy finished off the gingerbread house by adorning the edges of the windows with frosting and adding fairy lights inside to make them glow.
Although she swore it was “so easy,” one viewer couldn’t help but joke: “This makes me want to do a video of what it should look like, and what I make lol. This is next level.”
Others simply applauded her creativity.
“The Rolls-Royce of gingerbread houses,” one person wrote.
“Gorgeous,” added another.
“She took us to church,” a third quipped, with another echoing, “Gingerbread cathedral.”
