Ashanti & Nelly Are Reportedly Expecting Their First Baby Together After Rekindling Their Romance This Year
Ashanti and Nelly are entering the next phase of their relationship! The duo are reportedly expecting their first baby together, and we couldn’t be more excited for them.
A source told Us Weekly today, “Nelly and Ashanti are welcoming their first baby together.” Neither singer has publicly confirmed the news yet, although they did allude to it at the rapper’s 11th Black and White Ball at the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Louis. In a video obtained by TMZ, the “Falling For You” singer put her hands on her stomach and so did Nelly, causing them to both laugh. Hmm … definitely seems like an announcement to me!
If the pregnancy rumors are true, this would be Ashanti’s first baby and Nelly’s third, as he is already dad to Chanelle, 29, and Cornell Haynes III, 24, with ex Channetta Valentine.
The “Only You” singer and Ashanti dated from 2003-2013 and got back together after a decade apart. In May 2023, a source told Entertainment Tonight, “Nelly and Ashanti are back together and both of them are very happy. Nelly and Ashanti are really enjoying their time together.”
A few months later, Ashanti confirmed the news. The hip-hop icon appeared at the 2023 VMAs in September, wearing a bejeweled gown with a clutch that had a picture of her and Nelly from when they first met at the 2003 Grammy Awards.
“This is where we first exchanged numbers. I was like, ‘Oh, this would be cute,’” Ashanti told TODAY on the red carpet.
“Everything is lining up in the universe,” she continued. “So I’m happy.”
