Jaime Munguia and John Ryder will meet in late January in Phoenix,.
Jaime Munguia and John Ryder are officially set to headline a DAZN card on Saturday, Jan. 27, live from Phoenix.
The 27-year-old Munguia (42-0, 33 KO) is now campaigning as a super middleweight, having won a belt at junior middleweight and then not doing much of serious note in a nearly three-year stint at middleweight.
Ryder (32-6, 18 KO) is 35 years old and coming off of a loss to Canelo Alvarez in Mexico on May 6, which followed four straight wins after a controversial loss to Callum Smith back in late 2019.
Munguia’s last outing came on June 10 in California, where he won an absolute war against Sergiy Derevyanchenko in one of the year’s best fights.
Munguia vs Ryder also shapes up for action, as Munguia basically has the one speed once he gets going, and Ryder has never been afraid to trade, either, plus Munguia doesn’t give you much choice with that.
Both are also durable and tough. Munguia, obviously, has never been beaten let alone stopped, and he stood up to some hellacious shots from Derevyanchenko in particular. Ryder has only been stopped once, back in 2015 against Nick Blackwell.
