Life of Pi at Rialto Theatre in Limassol
Puppetry, magic and storytelling combine in a unique, Olivier Award-winning stage adaptation of the best-selling novel, Life of Pi. Filmed live in London’s West End and featuring state-of-the-art visuals, the epic journey of endurance and hope is brought to life in a breath-taking new way for cinema screens. This Sunday, the production will come to Cyprus as well, as Rialto Theatre presents a live broadcast screening of this fascinating tale between a boy and a tiger.
The 6pm show will take audiences on a voyage to the middle of the Pacific Ocean where a 16-year-old boy named Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger. The story of the Life of Pi, a 2001 novel by Yann Martel, is a well-known one, which reached even bigger audiences worldwide with the adventure-drama film of the same name.
Now, the National Theatre Live series which continues its collaboration with Rialto Theatre will bring a stage adaptation of the story to Cyprus. The production received outstanding reviews and wowed audiences in London.
The Sunday Times wrote: “It will make you believe in theatre. A triumph”, while the Observer described that “everything about this production is amazing.” The evening broadcast this Sunday will be shown in its original language, English, with subtitles in Greek and English.
