A CLEVER plumber has come to the rescue for millions of chilly Brits this winter time by revealing some simple radiator hacks to keep your house nice and toasty.
The tip will not only “channel the warmth” faster but also save you a fair share on your heating bills this Christmas.
An expert plumber has revealed his top tricks for helping your radiators reach their maximum potential and heat your home up quickly[/caption] All of the hacks can be done by the homeowner in seconds and will save you money[/caption]An expert from Your Plumber gave desperate homeowners a number of tricks that can be done in seconds and can make a huge difference to the temperature of your home.
One way is by clearing the radiators of any big obstacles that usually sit infront of them.
Things such as sofas and chairs are the usual culprits but all they do is block the flow of hot air by blocking it off.
Putting shelves above your radiators was also mentioned as a top tip as they can often stop hot air rising and slow down the heating process.
Another super scientific idea is to cover a thin sheet of card with tinfoil and put it behind your radiators so it reflects the heat back into the room.
This should not only heat the room up quicker but also be a more reliable way of always getting the perfect warm temperature in your home.
Something else that almost everyone is guilty of not doing enough is bleeding your radiators.
This should be a common household chore but its often neglected and leaves dodgy pockets of air in your heater.
It’s as simple as touching your radiators all over and looking out for any cold spots or areas that aren’t getting warm at the same time as the rest of the radiator.
Often you’ll find just the bottom half heats up quickly and the top is left cold to touch – something no one wants when they whack it up to max.
Mark Ingram, a technical gas and plumbing tutor at Engineering Real Results said: “If when you touch all of the radiators you notice any cold spots, you might need to bleed air out of the system, which is an easy job people can do themselves.
“With bigger concerns, you should always seek advice from a registered Gas Safe engineer.
“As time goes on and the temperatures get cooler the demand will only get higher and people may find they have to wait days for an engineer to become available to fix their problem.”
Earlier this week, a Chekatrade expert gave his expert advice on why people should consider leaving their heating on all the time even when they’re out.
The staggering revelation might cost you more each day but the benefits could be absolutely vital if you run into any big problems down the road.
Savvy shoppers have also noticed a genius way to stay warm for just £35 that doesn’t add a single penny onto your bills.
A huge cuddle pillow has become the ultimate cosy companion for chilly nights as it’s designed to wrap you in a warm and comforting embrace.
