Journalist Dean Jones is confident that Tottenham Hotspur will look to get a deal for Al-Ittihad winger Jota over the line in January.
Jota had plenty of success under Ange Postecoglou at Celtic but things have not worked out for the winger since his switch to the Saudi Pro League in the summer.
The 24-year-old has hardly had any game time this season due to Al-Ittihad being over the limit of foreign players allowed and it has been suggested that the player might be set for a swift return to Europe in January (TEAMtalk).
Various outlets over the last few weeks have backed Spurs to look to sign the Portuguese star on loan amidst the injuries to Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic (Football Insider).
It was even suggested by 90 min on 17 November that moving to Tottenham would be Jota’s number one preference in January as the player wants to reunite with Postecoglou.
Jones believes that Jota would tick a lot of boxes for the Lilywhites and is a perfect fit for the profile that the Premier League side are after.
The journalist told GiveMeSport: “We still have to consider that Tottenham aren’t going to just sign players based on a hunch because that’s not the way they’re going to do things anymore.
“Your stats have to fit, specifically, with the vision of the future. But I think Jota would probably do that anyway, in terms of what Tottenham are going to be looking for from a player in that position.
“I think it is a bit of a no-brainer that Tottenham try to get this deal done because even the terms of it might be quite suitable.”

The one reason why I am quite sceptical about all these Jota rumours is that the 24-year-old has not proven himself in a top league so far. While Spurs might be tempted to sign the winger on loan, I doubt they would want to pay a hefty transfer fee for the Benfica academy graduate.
