A WEDDING guest has had her dress choice slated for being way off the mark.
Respondents to her post said it was “absolutely not” appropriate, and she needed to think again.

But, regardless of all the negative feedback, she still insisted that she liked it.
This beleaguered lady posted an appeal on Reddit, little expecting to kick up a storm of protest.
In her post, she shared a picture of the offending red dress.
It was just above the knee, had short puffed sleeves and a plunging neckline.
“Black tie optional?” she asked Redditors. As usual, there was little to hold back the big tide of the discontented.
This dress was not, they urged her, suitable for a black tie event.
This commenter shared his view: “This is way too casual for black tie optional.”
He sought to educate her: “For the most part, BTO means full-length gowns, although some midi and tea-length dresses can work depending on the dress style and the venue.”
A BTO event was a dressy occasion and it needed a frock to suit, said this person.
“Way too casual. Black tie is a rare opportunity to dress all the way up as an adult.”
Don’t wear it, begged this Redditor: “Absolutely not. BTO still means floor-length dresses. You can do midi if it’s a luxe fabric/style. Doesn’t mean it has to be super expensive.
“But overall this dress would be quite out of place at a BTO event.”
Some even suggested that the notoriously risqué online site Fashion Nova would be better than the frock she had in mind.
“A lot of the dresses there, the taste level is way off, but might scour for a deal for Cyber Monday.”
