TEAMtalk have revealed that Newcastle United have now begun talks over a January deal for Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Guirassy has been prolific since moving to the Bundesliga at the start of this year, with the striker having scored 30 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions since his switch to Germany (Transfermarkt).
Tottenham’s interest in the 27-year-old came to light at the start of October when it emerged that the Lilywhites are keeping close tabs on the centre-forward ahead of the January window (TEAMtalk).
The Guinea international, who is also rumoured to be on the radar of other Premier League sides, is thought to have a release clause of €17.5m (£15.3m) in his contract (Bild).
If TEAMtalk’s latest update is to be believed, it is Newcastle who have made the first move to land Guirassy in January, with the Magpies alleged to have begun the process of trying to bring the striker to St James’ Park.
It is explained that Eddie Howe’s men have spoken to the player’s agent about a potential move and have also made contact with Stuttgart to let them know that they are ready to pay the release clause.
However, the outlet adds that sources close to Guirassy expect a ‘domino effect’ to be triggered and for several offers to arrive on the table over the coming weeks.
The report asserts that sources close to the former Rennes men expect him to depart the Bundesliga club, with the striker alleged to be keen on playing in the English top flight.

The fact that Guirassy has such a low release clause would undoubtedly make him a tempting option for many clubs, including Spurs. Given Richarlison’s struggles in front of goal, it would be interesting to see if Ange Postecoglou’s men decide to throw their hat in the ring for the 27-year-old.
