Ahead of Friday’s game at No. 5 Kansas, UConn coach Dan Hurley updated the status of freshman guard Steph Castle, a projected lottery pick in next summer’s NBA Draft.
Hurley said Castle is “trending up” but won’t play in the Kansas game after Castle had told ESPN he was targeting that game for his return.
“I think he’s got a real shot for the Garden,” Hurley said, referring to Tuesday’s game with North Carolina in the Jimmy V Classic at the Garden. “I don’t see any chance for Friday.”

Castle recently had a minor procedure on his knee and Hurley said he would miss 2-4 weeks.
He hasn’t played since Nov. 11 against Stonehill.
