Two women known as “entrepreneurial” business owners have hit the ground running at a Connecticut shopping plaza.
The Shops at Farmington Valley is the home for the two new salon owners, each of whom bought existing businesses from their former employees and renamed them.
“We are thrilled to have such entrepreneurial women business owners who are passionate about making sure every client has the best possible experience, and who love what they do,” said Liz Ackerman, general manager of the shops.
In / Style Salon is owned by local entrepreneur Lori DiMauro and Adore’ Salon by Danjela Domi.
Both were stylists and managers at their former salons.
Domi’s Adore’ Salon, in the former Green Tangerine space, is a luxury salon where the team works as a “family,” Domi said.
Domi was a stylist and manager at the Green Tangerine Salon for three years and helped rebuild the salon business after a slow post-COVID re-opening, Ackerman said.
Domi, 30, grew up in Albania and moved here in 2013 with the dream of owning her own salon, but she had to work on her English first.
“I love it,” she said of the new business. “I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. ”
Domi said she likes the connection she makes with clients.
“I love making them feel beautiful,” she said. “My goal is to make sure they look happy.”
She has a supportive husband in the information technology field and they have a 5-year-old son.
She said she enjoys exploring and traveling to new places.
“You’ll either find me in the salon or traveling,” she said.
DiMauro, who has 32 years in the business, spent 19 years at Cost Cutters, which she has renamed In / Style Salon.
DiMauro said she was given the opportunity by the former Cost Cutters owner to keep the client base, telephone number and location.
“I love being a part of this community and have met so many fun, exciting and heart-warming people in this area, that just made me want to stay even though I live an hour away,” she said.
DiMauro purchased the business, rebranded it, then renovated the space to be a full-service salon in a “stylishly modern and inviting setting,” Ackerman said.
“It’s perfect, it’s great. It’s a good business,” DiMauro said.
