EMMERDALE fans are convinced they have spotted a bombshell death clue as David Metcalfe makes a chilling comment.
David – played by Matthew Wolfenden – has had a terrible week, after discovering his stepson Jacob Gallagher was in a relationship with his ex, Victoria Sugden.
He also found out his father, Eric Pollard, had been keeping his Parkinson’s diagnosis from him in a further blow.
But in a heart to heart in the latest episode, David realised how much his dad needed him.
Eric said: “I have to try and focus on the future.”
David replied: “Moving forwards, you just take it easy, do the hours that you want and we’ll cover the rest.”
A teary-eyed Eric then said: “At the moment, I feel as though I could take on the world.
“But there will be a time when I won’t feel so chipper.”
David promised him: “And I’ll be here for you, all the way.”
Eric said: “It’s going to be quite the journey, for both of us. And I can’t tell you how good it feels to have you by my side.”
Taking hold of his hand, David told his dad he loved him, and Eric replied the same.
But the exchange left Emmerdale fans puzzled as it was previously revealed that Matthew would be leaving his role as David after 17 years by the end of the year.
It makes them think something terrible is going to happen, with one writing on X: “Is David just gonna leave his dad to deal with the Parkinson‘s without him? Or is there a surprise death looming?”
Another added: “Is David giving Eric false hope”.
A third tweeted: “David leaving the village when Eric is poorly makes no sense #Emmerdale.”
Meanwhile a fellow viewer wrote: “Oh great so it looks more than likely that David will leave for London which is where his daughter is the one he kidnapped as well !!!”
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
