BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay surprised fans as he made an unexpected appearance on a rival morning show.
The TV presenter cropped up Down Under in Australia when he was booked to be a celebrity guest on a slew of morning TV shows.
He appeared Channel 9’s popular Today Extra in the country as well as ABC News Australia.
The BBC regular was drumming up interest in his true crime podcast.
He shared a clip to Instagram where he joked it was ‘odd’ to start his day on breakfast television as well as finish it by doing the same thing as per the time difference.
Jon had been presenting on BBC Breakfast yesterday morning alongside Luxmy Gopal before his guest stint in Oz.
Writing on Instagram, Jon said: “Slightly strange to start and end the same day on breakfast tv.
“Many thanks to the newsteams at Australia’s ABC News Breakfast and Channel 9’s Today show for covering the latest developments in my Fairy Meadow podcast.
“Good to get the information to millions more people in the country where little Cheryl Grimmer went missing.”
Jon spends a lot of his time working on his podcast, which is broadcast on BBC Sounds, and is now keen to take it overseas to connect with more people globally.
His current focus is based on an Australian case too which has sparked interest among podcast fans Down Under.
Jon’s night at home doing a remote press tour of Oz was a far cry from his recent wild night out with his BBC Breakfast colleagues.
He and Nina Warhurst teamed up with sports correspondent John Watson and another colleague called Tracey for an evening in Manchester.
The group headed to see the musical Hamilton, but also had time to enjoy some drinks at a bar.
Nina – who is currently on maternity leave after welcoming her third child in July – beamed as she spent time with her colleagues.
Meanwhile Jon, 53, looked equally thrilled to be out for the evening.
