No one here is under the illusion that the existential battle with dug-in Hamas Palestinian militants in Gaza is anywhere close to the end, but in the small respite provided by a soon-to-expire cease-fire, it feels as if Israelis are collectively taking a long deep breath after more than seven weeks of nonstop, disorienting violence.
