THOSE who have been able to spot a gecko camouflaging itself within a mind-bending optical illusion are likely smarter than most.
Geckos are known to be avid masters of disguise, quickly blending into their environment to avoid predators and surprise prey.
A sneaky gecko is hidden within this brain teaser[/caption]The reptile’s ability to change the color of the pigments within its smooth, transparent skin is brought about through cells called chromatophores, per DOGO News.
The cells automatically detect what color the background is and match it.
Geckos will also mask themselves from most photographs.
Even so, in one image taken by photographer Dave Bagshaw and obtained by Mercury Press, some of those viewers with the sharpest eyes and high IQ have been able to spot the gecko named Luna, according to Daily Mail.
In the brain teaser, a tree branch is clearly pictured in the background, but at first glance, Luna is seemingly nowhere to be found.
Those looking for a challenge and who are eager to test their intelligence should set a timer for eight seconds before looking at the image.
A finish under the allotted time limit would place a viewer among the top percentile to find the sneaky gecko.
Ready to find Luna?
Set your timer and prepare to search for the elusive reptile.
Ready, set, go!
Were you able to locate her? If not, don’t fret.
Reset the timer with a few more seconds added on and try again.
Those who still can’t find Luna should give it up to the gecko’s expert hiding skills and find the answer key The U.S. Sun has included at the bottom of the page.
Geckos like Luna can hide even from the sharpest eyes of birds of prey like eagles, hawks, and owls.
It also remains hidden from other predators like rats and snakes.
The reptile’s prey are often insects like mosquitos and crickets.
The U.S. Sun also has several illusions for those looking to test their skills and find another animal hidden within a natural habitat.
Some viewers could see if they have 20/20 vision if they locate a second cat within a seemingly straightforward picture.
In the image, one cat is within clear view, sitting in a chair to the left, but the other feline friend is seemingly nowhere to be found.
About 99 percent of people have failed to find the second cat — can you?
