Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is not giving up on her seemingly tireless quest to impeach Biden Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Even though an earlier Greene-backed impeachment resolution against Mayorkas went down in flames, the Georgia congresswoman was back at it on Wednesday with a new resolution aimed at ousting him.
"The ongoing invasion at our southern border is a direct national security threat against the states and against the citizens therein!" declared Greene on the House floor. "Secretary Mayorkas has willfully abandoned his duty to secure the border and protect states against invasion, thereby violating Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution."
In fact, Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution refers to efforts by foreign governments to send an invading army into the United States and does not refer to migrants fleeing from Central America to claim asylum.

Additionally, impeachment is generally reserved for high crimes and misdemeanors and not for mere maladministration, which is essentially the offense of which Greene is charging Mayorkas for his handling of a surge in migrants crossing the border.
Politico's Olivia Beavers reports that it is unlikely that Greene's latest motion would succeed where past ones have failed, as at least one Republican who opposed it last time indicated he is not inclined to change his position.
