ASDA customers have revealed their shock at the supermarket’s rising prices – and where they’re now doing the majority of their shopping instead.
And while many were focused on the food products and their new, more expensive price tags, mums were more concerned about where they could find the cheapest toys.
Asda customers have spoken about rising prices[/caption] Products like oil have more than doubled in price[/caption]The conversation came about when TikTok user Cost Of Living Crisis Tips shared a video in which he documented how inflation has impacted Asda prices.
The man behind the account explained he was looking at how the cost of certain items compare today to in November 2022.
And the social media user, who can be found at @costoflivingcrisistips, said it had had an impact on lots of popular products.
These included Filipo Berio olive oil, which could previously be bought for £3, but now costs £7.50 – an 150% increase.”
Using examples he’d seen in store, he later said: “Brown rice was £1.50, now it’s £3.25 and it’s up 116%.
“Bisto was £1.89 and now it’s £2.80 and it’s up 48%.
“And 10 Happy Eggs were £2.70, now they’re £3.85, up 42%.”
Other items he highlighted were Asda’s own range sweet and sour sauce (was 42p, now 87p), the supermarket’s mature cheddar (was £3.50, now £5) and their beef lasagne (was £1.53, now £2.20).
And it didn’t take long for his 293k followers to weigh into the debate, as they had their say on the rising prices in Asda, plus lots of other supermarkets.
One person raged: “How can they justify these ridiculous percentages??
“It’s absolutely scandalous.”
Another branded the prices “shocking”, as others detailed how their weekly food shop had more than doubled as a result.
Since, a mum has also separately shared how she’s started to compare and contrast Asda prices to ensure she gets the best deal on the high street.
While out shopping for a kids’ toy recently, the parent spotted the Zuru X Shot for £60 as part of their Black Friday offer.
But she then decided to shop around to see if she could find anywhere that sold it cheaper – and was thrilled when she discovered Argos had it on sale for a more reasonable price of £40.
“Always check the product you want,” she advised in a post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group as she posted a snap of the two price points.
She continued: “£20 cheaper in Argos than Asda – always search first.
“Christmas is a tough time of the year and £20 makes a massive difference.”
