Jason Cundy has said that Tottenham missed Harry Kane against Aston Villa on Sunday, suggesting that the Lilywhites would have emerged comfortable winners if the England captain was upfront.
Spurs only have themselves to blame for Sunday’s loss as they created more than enough chances to have put the game to bed in the first half.
The 2-1 loss means that Villa leapfrogged Tottenham into fourth spot but Ange Postecoglou was relatively upbeat in his post-match press conference even though his side fell to their third straight defeat.
The Australian revealed that while he did not like what he saw against Wolves ahead of the international break, his side’s performance against the Villans was one of their best of the season so far, adding that results will turn around if they keep delivering similar displays (Football.London).
Cundy insisted that it was simply a case of Spurs not having someone to put the ball in the back of the net.
The former Chelsea man told Jamie O’Hara on talkSPORT (27/11/23): “You (Spurs) played well. But you know what it’s the first time you looked like you have missed Kane. I think with Kane up top, you win that game.”

There is no doubt that someone of Kane’s calibre would have put those chances away, but in fairness to Son, there was nothing wrong with his finishing. It is not often that one has three goals ruled out for marginal offside calls in the same game.
