According to German publication BILD, Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring a move for 27-year-old VfB Stuttgart striker, Serhou Guirassy, who dreams of a Premier League move.
Back in October, Dean Jones told the Ranks FC podcast that Spurs were interested in the Guinea international forward. A little over a month ago, TEAMtalk also claimed that Spurs were one of several sides across Europe monitoring the Guinea international closely ahead of January.
Football Insider reported that Newcastle have also entered the race for Guirassy, while Bild claim that the player is on Nottingham Forest and Fulham radars. According to the report, the forward has a release clause of €17.5m (£15.3m) in his contract.
The 27-year-old has played 10 times for the German club this season across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing two assists (Transfermarkt).
BILD claim that the courtship for Guirassy’s signature is getting ‘wilder and wider’ and that could help him to ‘fulfil his dream’ of playing in the Premier League.
The publication also adds that Stuttgart fully expect the player’s release clause to be met in January and have already started looking for potential replacements in the market. Tottenham would undoubtedly be aware of the situation.
We still haven’t bought a replacement for Harry Kane. While naming Guirassy as the selected one might not be a wise decision, the 27-year-old has kept scoring goals for fun since his move to Stuttgart in January.
Whilst his release clause is relatively low, Spurs must not be looking at him actively as this might just be a phase. He might also not have the all-rounded abilities that one would expect from an Ange Postecoglou striker. We would be better off looking at a younger, more prolific striker.
