Despite the make-or-break scenario, United manager Ten Hag was in high spirits ahead of the match.
When asked if he believes there has been an improvement in performances since the last time the Red Devils faced Galatasaray, the Dutchman told TNT Sports: “I think so, yeah.
“But probably it will be the same for Galatasaray. I think we improved, so it’s good progress.
“You see how we are stepping up, we are more stable, we are winning games, so definitely, there’s a big difference from the first moment we played them.”
However, Ten Hag was taken aback when the interviewer openly suggested that he “liked” seeing Man Utd in crisis.
The TNT Sports reporter said: “You’re at a little bit of a point where the season could improve or another crisis, as we like to see from the outside…”
With a wry smile, the United boss quickly responded: “You like it? That’s quite honest, but we don’t care. It is about us, we started this week well so now we have to continue.”

Meanwhile, some fans praised Ten Hag for his measured response.
One wrote: “That’s my manager, we really don’t care we win when we want!”
While another commented: “My manager!”
