A group of 179 newly sworn police officers officially pledged their commitment to uphold the laws of the Republic at the Cyprus police academy on Wednesday.
The ceremony took place in the presence of deputy chief of police Demitris Demitriou, who welcomed the new members of the force.
He highlighted that police officers carry out a daily “duty rather than just a profession” and urged them to always work “conscientiously, maintaining distance from instances of corruption and collusion.”
Demitriou also underlined the continuous support from the leadership towards all police members, stressing that their primary concern is the safety and well-being of all officers.
The new recruits are set to undergo a preliminary six-week training programme, comprising three weeks at the police academy and another three weeks at the motorised rapid response unit. Subsequently, they will be assigned to police directorates, departments, and units to address service needs.
