The human bones found in Akamas earlier this month belonged to a British man who resided permanently in Cyprus.
Police operations chief Michalis Nicolaou told the Cyprus News Agency that the bones belong to John Hugo from the United Kingdom, aged 69, who was a permanent resident in Cyprus and was reported as a missing person on March 24.
On Monday, a forensic autopsy was conducted by medical examiner Nicholas Charalambous and an anthropologist of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) and nothing was found to indicate a criminal act, he said.
The bones, as well as clothes, were found by a member of the Paphos police department, who was hunting in a remote area of Akamas with his friends and who then notified the police.
