The Eagles and the 49ers face each other in a highly anticipated rematch of last season’s NFC championship game this Sunday.
Back in January, Philadelphia beat San Francisco 31–7 to advance to Super Bowl LVII. Many 49ers players, including receiver Deebo Samuel, argued the loss was due in part to many players being injured, including quarterback Brock Purdy.
Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick apparently thinks this argument from Samuel and others is just an excuse for the 49ers’ performance. He was asked whether this weekend’s game between two NFC powerhouses has been on the Eagles’ minds, and he gave a very blunt response.
“Talk is cheap,” Reddick told Dave Uram of radio station KYW. “They get to come back in the Linc. It was a lot of boo hoos last year, a lot of crying, a lot of what if, a lot of this, a lot of that. They get a chance to come back in here, line that s— up and prove it again.”
The Eagles currently are 10–1, which is the best record in the NFL. The 49ers (8–3) come in to the game as a slight favorite betting wise, though, with -2.5 odds, per SI Sportsbook.
Kickoff in Philadelphia is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday, and the game will be televised by Fox Sports.
