What is a Chromebook?

A Chromebook is a budget-friendly laptop that uses Google's ChromeOS rather than Windows or Mac operating systems.

Chromebooks sync with your Google account and instead of using traditional programs that need to be installed, many of the apps you'll use on a Chromebook work through the cloud and require an internet connection. Chromebooks do support some offline programs and Android apps as well, but they're typically more limited and less powerful than their Windows or Mac alternatives.  That said, Chromebooks can still work just as well for basic productivity.

Traditionally, Chromebooks aren't the best for high-end computing tasks or gaming since they don't support many programs that rely on direct installations.
