SAN JOSE — A San Jose Sharks team that was just starting to gain some confidence after an atrocious start to the season will now have to play without No. 1 center Tomas Hertl, who is considered day-to-day with an unspecified injury.
Sharks coach David Quinn said Hertl was injured on Sunday when he and the team had the day off. Quinn refused to be specific about what happened to Hertl other than to say the ailment was to around his midsection.
Quinn said, though, that Hertl would join the Sharks on their upcoming road trip that starts Thursday in Boston against the Bruins.
The Sharks., 4-1-1 record at home since the first week of November, are already without injured top-nine forwards Logan Couture (lower body), Alexander Barabanov (finger), and Filip Zadina, who was placed on injured reserve on Monday with an upper-body issue.
The Sharks’ upcoming six-game trip also includes games against the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Detroit Red Wings, and Vegas Golden Knights.
