IT’S arguably one of the most beloved Christmas treats.
But when there’s so many mince pies on the market, how do you know which one’s the best?
Well, Harrison Webb decided to take it upon himself to buy 130 mince pies from different supermarkets in a bid to work out the best to the worst.
He purchased both the standard version and the premium version from the supermarkets, before embarking on a blind tasting session documented in a video on his TikTok page.
One mince pie from each box was put onto a tray, and Harrison explained that he’d be keeping the best one on the tray.
He began by trying Sainsbury’s premium pie, which he declared “good”, before tucking into the M&S and Asda premium options – both of which got a no.
Harrison declared that the Lidl premium mince pie had “too much pastry”, before trying a Waitrose version.
“Ooohh, nicer crust,” he began, taking a bite before going in for seconds, and declaring that the winner of the first round.
Sainsbury’s standard was up next, as he said the filling was “doing nothing” for him,.
The Morrisons premium was far too orangey for Harrison’s taste, while he insisted that Aldi’s premium mince pie wasn’t “even worth the calories”.
Aldi’s standard mince pie, however, won him over, while Tesco’s standard got an “mmmmmmm” from the tester.
The Co-op premium was a “no”, while Lidl’s standard was “nothing impressive” and Asda’s standard didn’t have “enough filling”, according to Harrison.
Marks and Spencer’s standard mince pie was declared to taste “like an Indian curry”, somewhat strangely, while Tesco’s premium was “nice”.
“Guys, I feel sick,” Harrison declared.
“I’m actually sweating from eating!”
Iceland’s premium mince pie didn’t go down too well – with Harrison heard retching off camera.
But Iceland’s standard offering was more successful, as he declared: “This one is good but it doesn’t win”.
Waitrose premium was up next, with Harrison insisting “the crust is spot on”, followed by Morrisons standard and the Co-op standard.
At the end of the taste test, he declared that Iceland’s mince pie was in third place.
In second was Tesco’s premium mince pie, while Waitrose clinched the top spot with their standard mince pie.
“Only one premium made the top three,” Harrison noted before adding of the one that made him gag, “You need to sort it out”.
“Well, guys, if you wanna come around my house for Christmas, let me know, because I’ve still got 120 mince pies to eat,” Harrison concluded his video.
People took to the comments section to weigh in, with many insisting Harrison didn’t try their favourite mince pie.
“What about Greggs!! They are the best in my opinion,” one wrote.
“You didn’t try the Lidl Deluxe, that’s the best one,” another added.
As a third said: “Best ones I’ve tried are the Mr Kipling all butter premium mince pies.
“They are massive and you get 4 in a pack – you should try them!”
