Environmental groups have filed a legal action against Portugal over its alleged failure to implement its regulatory policies and meet climate change goals. The groups claim that Portugal has not created a portal for citizens to track regulation, published a carbon budget, or fully implemented the national energy and climate plan (PNEC) and sector-specific climate mitigation policies. The government stated it is reviewing the PNEC and aims to generate 80% of electricity from renewable sources by 2026.
