STRICTLY star Bobby Brazier has revealed his heartbreaking message to his late mum Jade Goody ahead of his tribute dance to her.
Bobby and pro partner Dianne Buswell will perform his Couple’s Choice routine tonight on the hit BBC show, which wlll be dedicated to the Big Brother star.
Jade passed away from cervical cancer in 2009, when Bobby was just five years old.
In an emotional interview, Bobby revealed what he would say to his mother if he could speak to her now.
He told The Mirror: “If I could see her again for one moment, I’d tell her, ‘Thank you’ and give her a cuddle.”
EastEnders star Bobby, 20, went on to open up about why the routine he is performing tonight, which is set to Maxwell’s track This Woman’s Work, is so special to him.
He said: “To me, this song is just perfect. My dad used to play it when I was young, maybe about eight or nine, and it was really impactful for me. The lyrics are really profound. Maxwell sings, ‘I should be crying, but I just can’t let it show’, and when I was younger, I’d never cry… I’d never let myself feel vulnerable enough.”
He has also explained how the moving song allowed him to cry and deal with the emotions he had bottled up after losing his beloved parent.
“Those lyrics were the only thing that did make me cry because I knew they were so true. At the time, it was easier to be angry or resentful or fearful. I have definitely learned to let go of the anger now. I don’t want to be angry. Why would I?”
He concluded: “For me, this dance is about the difference between the vulnerability of being honest with yourself, and allowing yourself to grow through love. Or doing what’s easy, and being angry and resentful because it’s too hard to change.
“My experience of that has been through the loss of my mum but as humans, I think we all experience those things, so I think everyone can relate to it.”
Speaking on It Takes Two earlier this week about their upcoming performance, Bobby revealed the emotional story behind it.
He said: “I am a child, well there is me as a child and then I come out as me now. I have got Dianne, who replicates a woman, let’s say my mother probably, and we go on this journey throughout but I don’t know the whole dance yet to tell you the story completely, but yes it’s emotional, it’s lovely, I think there could be tears.”
