Standing in lineups is something you do at an airport, but it is often stressful. The last time I was flying to the United States, the lineups at U.S. Customs and Border Protection for preclearance were so long that people were starting to get antsy about missing their flights. One young woman started crying and called her parents who were already boarding the plane. You’re not supposed to use cellphones in that area, but I wasn’t about to tell her that. I hope she made it to the gate before the flight left.
