A MAJOR car company’s “upcycled EV” version of a popular model with an interior made from eggshells has gone up for sale for £1 million.
The twist on the classic sports car has been released by the conversion specialists at Lunaz Design.
The company took the beloved Aston Martin DB6 and turned it into an eco-friendly electric roadster.
It comes complete with fast charging, regenerative braking and a 255-mile range.
The electric motor lays down a hefty 375 horsepower, about the same as a M-series BMW.
Perhaps the most unique feature, though, is that much of the interior is made from recycled material.
The upholstery on the seats is created using waste cotton, while the veneer on the dashboard and gear stick is derived from discarded egg and nut shells.
Even the carpets are made using recycled nylon from old fishing nets and the leather on the seats is a byproduct of the meat industry.
Lunaz created the model in pursuit of “sustainable luxury“.
It is free of PFAs, chemicals commonly used in vehicle manufacturing which have long-lasting environmental impacts.
However, it won’t come cheap as only a concept car has been produced so far and Lunaz do not have a manufacturing relationship with Aston.
If the super-green motor was given a production run, you could expect it to cost around the same as a standard converted Aston EV from the firm, which will set you back a cool £1 million.
David Lorenz, the founder of Lunaz Design, said: “As this magnificent DB6 shows, we can create authentic, truly luxurious interiors worthy of the most famous marques using materials with the smallest possible environmental impact.
“These are very exciting times for us, our clients and our industry.”
It comes after an urban explorer discovered a stunning collection of classic cars that had been left to rot in a barn for 40 years.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that a common car part is missing from most new cars without many drivers realising it.
