PRINCE Harry asked King Charles: “Don’t you want to see your grandchildren any more?” as he pleaded to be allowed to keep Frogmore Cottage, a bombshell book will claim.
The King ordered Harry and Meghan to hand back the keys to their Windsor home days after the memoir Spare was published.
Extracts from a new royal book — being serialised in a French magazine — claim Harry called his father and used his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet to try to change the King’s mind.
Endgame by Omid Scobie — which will be released on Tuesday — also absurdly alleges “Kate shudders and giggles nervously” whenever Meghan’s name is mentioned.
It also claims that the Duke of Sussex is “ready to forget” the bitter feud with his family and move on.
However, Scobie says Meghan, 42, is refusing to “dive back into the soap opera”.
The book will be seen as a one-sided account, with input from Harry and Meghan’s camp.
It often attacks Prince William and Kate and, due to Royal Protocol, the couple will be unable to publicly defend themselves from even the most absurd claims.
Meghan was forced to admit she did get her spokesman to brief Scobie for his first book on the couple — Finding Freedom.
The Sun called her “Little Miss Forgetful” after emails produced in the Court of Appeal proved she had tried to influence the book despite her earlier denials.
It is very possible members of their inner circle have also given help or guidance with this.
Scobie has denied claims that the new book has been heavily briefed by the Sussex camp.
The book says it was Princess Anne who persuaded the King to evict Harry from Frogmore Cottage.
The Sun revealed in March that Harry had been ordered out in a move dubbed “Frogxit” — and the keys had been offered to disgraced Prince Andrew.
French magazine Paris Match yesterday claimed the book reveals a message was circulated in the Royal Family telling them not to trust Harry with anything after Spare was released.
A source close to the King, the magazine claims, even allegedly said “Charles was cautious” after Prince Harry called his dad to pass on his best wishes three weeks after the book was published.
“He wanted to limit their discussion to a harmless exchange. Concerning Harry, the message that circulated in the family was not to trust him . . . everyone took it very seriously,”, it is claimed.
While Harry attended his father’s Coronation in May and returned to the UK for several media court cases, Meghan is said in the book to never want to set foot again in England — where it is claimed she never felt at home.
Paris Match’s article claims the real reason she avoided Charles’ Coronation was because she refused to “dive back into the soap opera of the Court”.
At the time, sources close to Meghan claimed she stayed in Montecito, California, because it clashed with Archie’s fourth birthday party.
The pages of Endgame will also claim Meg felt ignored by all the members of the Royal Family at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last September, the French publication says. But the couple do keep the King “up to date with their family life by sending him photos of the children”, it is claimed.
An extract states: “He (Harry) has not managed to find common ground with his family, and he has accepted the idea that they would perhaps never change, especially when his brother flatly refused to speak to him about it.”
And Scobie quoted Harry as saying: “I’m ready to forget. Get an apology or an explanation? At this point, who cares, right?”
The book devotes a whole chapter to Harry’s warring sibling called “Gloves On: Prince William, Heir to the Throne”.
Scobie also claims that Harry and William did not even exchange a text message at Christmas, but does claim the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent gifts to Kate and William’s children.
Separately, in an absurd account sure to infuriate the Prince and Princess of Wales, the author blasts William as “unpredictable” and Kate of being “lazy”.
He added that Kate and Meghan have not communicated directly since the end of 2019. An alleged close friend of the couple, is quoted as saying: “She (Kate) spent more time talking about Meghan than with Meghan.”
And it was said of Kate now: “Every time she hears about Meghan, Kate shudders and giggles nervously.” William, the book claims, also now considers his brother an outsider after being “disappointed by Harry’s life choices”, the translation says.
In another passage the book claims that Prince William, 41, is impatient to become king.
Scobie even predicts — amid suggestions that Charles could abdicate in favour of his son — “A stand-off takes place both on and off-stage and risks unravelling the monarchical tapestry.”
But the heir has allegedly been speaking out without notifying Buckingham Palace, most prominently when he created the environmental Earthshot Prize.
The King would have liked to have been included or at least thanked for his work in paving the way for green initiatives, but Scobie writes: “William acted as if Charles’s passion did not exist.”
He describes William as much harsher than his dad, especially when convincing the late Queen to punish Prince Andrew over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Scobie claimed Charles “was in tears because he was afraid for Andrew’s mental health”.
He added: “Charles leads with his head and his heart. William is colder. He wants the job done and he has no problem with the casualties along the way.”
Scobie also sensationally claimed William and Kate were too “stilted” to attract young people, claiming there was nostalgia for the Sussexes who “brought fresh air”.
