Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in the history of the Seattle Seahawks franchise. Full stop. Even with a breakup that didn’t appear amicable, ignoring what Wilson did for the organization — winning a Super Bowl and qualifying for nine Pro Bowls, for example — would just be silly.
That seems to be precisely what Seattle wants to do.
In advance of the Seahawks’ home matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Thanksgiving night, the team’s Twitter account paid homage to the last time it played San Francisco on Turkey Day. The Seahawks traveled to the Bay Area to beat the 49ers on Thanksgiving 2014. In celebration, Richard Sherman and Russell Wilson ate some holiday dinner with NBC’s Michele Tafoya after the win. Again, all of this definitely happened.
Yet, the Seahawks’ Twitter profile literally cut Wilson out of a photo of the moment (who is supposed to be on the left of Tafoya below). I mean … c’mon. Really?

I can’t believe the Seahawks would essentially pretend Wilson doesn’t exist … even on Thanksgiving! What did that man do to that organization except for providing excellence under center and from the shotgun for nearly a decade? Sure, Wilson might have eventually gotten “bigger” than the team, but that’s no reason to cut the man out of one of the more notable moments in franchise history. That’s just unnecessarily petty.
I look forward to the day the Seahawks and Wilson inevitably reconcile because this is too much. Everyone please hug and make up.
