In a new video posted to social media by Apple Original Films, “Killers of the Flower Moon” star Lily Gladstone said that working on the Martin Scorsese picture “completely changed me as a human being.”
The footage was captured during Gladstone’s last day on the film’s Oklahoma set. Standing alongside costar Leonardo DiCaprio, the Best Actress hopeful addressed the crew and other actors and compared the project to her earliest creative endeavors.
“Not since I was a teenager, renting out basement spaces in art galleries just making shit with my friends for the sake of doing it have I felt such equal and open and loving collaboration and craftsmanship,” Gladstone said. “Which is something pretty remarkable at this level – because this is a first for me.”

Released back in October, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is Scorsese’s epic adaptation of David Grann’s book of the same name. The film tells the story of the Osage Indian murders in 1920s Oklahoma, which left countless members of the Osage tribe dead. The murders were largely perpetrated by William Hale (played by Robert De Niro) and Hale’s nephew Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio), who was married to Mollie Kyle (Gladstone’s character).
Gladstone has been the focal point of “Killers of the Flower Moon” since she received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in the spring. Scorsese cast Gladstone after seeing her in Kelly Reichardt’s film “Certain Women.”
“I couldn’t take my eyes off of her,” Scorsese told Variety recently of Gladstone. “Lily’s character was quiet, she spoke very little, but she commanded the screen with her presence, with every move, every gesture. There are very few actors around who know how to hold the screen like that, and it was perfect for the character of Mollie.”
Gladstone has spoken frequently about how much the project meant to her, and that’s something she articulated on the “Killers of the Flower Moon” set way back when she wrapped filming.
“I believe in every storyteller here, I believe in every craftsperson here, I believe in every beating heart and soul here,” Gladstone said in the set video. “This was really special. Thank you so much for bringing everything to this. And I’ll remember it forever. And we’ll all have it forever.”
“Killers of the Flower Moon” is in theaters now. The film will eventually stream exclusively on Apple TV+.
